WPX CHALLENGE 2001
Contest Club Finland vs. Northern California Contest Club
As we all remember NCCC has challenged CCF in the WPX club competition this year. Just to ensure the forthcoming CCF victory in this battle and to make it a very enjoyable event in all possible ways we have decided to active OH contesters with a special trophy program. A trophy will be given in all the contest categories shown below to the best OH/OH0/OJ0. There are also two trophies for non OH operators. The program is managed by Timo, oh1noa@qsl.net.

Remember that now is the time to let all the radio sporting
adrenalin out from your bodies. It is time to kick the ionosphere
good before it starts leaving us and fades away. So let's go out
there and make some long lasting club records!
The Challenge - NCCCCCF by Dennis Motschenbacher, K7BV in 1999
Gentlemen, I have had the special honor of being personally close to the special breed of contesters that are members of the Northern California Contest Club and the Contest Club of Finland. It has become apparent to me that both groups are composed of some of the best and most aggressive contesters in the world. So let us consider drawing our two clubs closer together in a manner that will benefit the members of both organizations and provide some outstanding camaraderie between our members.
I propose that we establish a challenge between the clubs for one of the major upcoming contests. Both clubs have exhibited a particular vengeance for competing in the WPX events therefore I think that these contests should be our focal point in the year 2000. The Founding Fathers of this competition must develop a means of equalizing the playing field for the two clubs. To do that, I propose that we select a team from each club who will work jointly to establish the intra-contest rules for our competition. I propose that each club's team has two members. These four gentlemen will have to do at least the following:
1. Determine the number of members of each club. If they are not very close in number, then we may have to select the top XX entries from each club for the competition.
2. Determine how to deal with Multi entries since both clubs tend to have more than one such entry in the major contests.
3. I trust we can find some scoring equalizers, if necessary, to satisfy both groups -- we aren't trying to solve this issue for the world, just the West Coast USA and Finland.
4. Determine a magnificent trophy or other appropriate symbol of our friendship and competition that can be passed back and forth to the winning club each year with a spot to engrave past years' results of the competition. I further propose that a representative or delegation from the losing club must come to the winning club each year and present the Trophy of Symbol of Friendship. That requirement will make sure that each clubs does it's work to raise club funds each year!
5. I recommend the two WPX contests serve as the battle grounds for the official NCCC/CCF competition. The Founding Fathers (us) can use the results of this year's contests as a data base for establishing the rules and scoring for the 2000 competition.
6. Establish a private reflector for the Rules Teams to us while discussing the issues. I am sure that Bill W4AN will help us with this matter. I will be visiting our OH friends in late May and would be happy to serve as a facilitator while there. I propose that the President of the NCCC, Steve K6AW, write a letter to the President of the CCF officially establishing the desire to make this competition an annual affair. He can list the two-man Rules Team he has selected. I will hand carry this letter to our friends in Finland.Maybe CCF members will assemble in Helsinki Sunday, May 22 to hear this profound declaration read by me on Steve behalf as I stand amongst them, proudly being part of this historic occasion that draws these two powerhouse clubs together for international friendship. This moment may prove to be the beginning of other such relationships between contest clubs around the world.... I can dream a little and see another competition -- a combination team made up of the NCCC/CCF challenging the SCCC and any other club they dare to team up with to challenge US! So, Gentlemen, what is your response to this idea of mine?
